While Jeppson's Malort may not be easy to find across the US, it is a staple here in Chicago!
This wormwood-based spirit was developed by Swedish immigrant Carl Jeppson, who drew inspiration from Bäsk, or bitter, liquor. After decades of production in Chicago, it left the city in the mid-70's to be distilled elsewhere, until CH Distillery brought it back in 2018! We've been cask conditioning coffee in Malort for some time now, and are always excited when we work with CH Distillery on barrel aging too! These unroasted Guatemalan beans were aged for months in these Malort barrels, taking on the character of the wood and the spirit. Barrels are unique in that they are always changing and evolving in flavor profile, with each barrel being truly one of a kind!
